Daniel Agger Injured With Suspected Knee Ligament Damage

Daniel Agger is believed to have picked up a medial knee ligament injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, according to Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Daniel Agger has suffered suspected medial knee ligament damage in the game against Manchester United at Anfield.

Rodgers was optimistic about his side's performance after the game, but lamented injuries to Agger as well as Fabio Borini and Martin Kelly, saying: "Fabio had a badly swollen ankle. Agger's doesn't look good, the medics were saying it might be a medial ligament. We'll see."

If that turns out to be correct, then Agger could be missing for several months for Liverpool. It would be an understatement to say their season hasn’t gone exactly as planned so far, but the loss of their best defender will be a terrible blow for a side that has picked up just two points from five games and is currently sitting in the relegation zone.

Martin Kelly and Fabio Borini's injuries are not believed to be as serious, but both could still miss games for the Reds. Liverpool's task now looks a lot harder as their already small squad gets depleted further.
