Pep Guardiola’s sabbatical away from the game is coming to an end with Bayern Munich announcing that the former Barcelona man will be the club’s new manager beginning this summer. He will be taking over for Jupp Heynckes who already announced that he will be retiring at the end of the season. The contract will run through June 2016.

The 41 year old will step into a perfect situation with Germany’s record title holders. Bayern have one of the best youth academies in the world and have a squad stacked with world class internationals. The club has come up just short twice in the last three years at winning the UEFA Champions League.
Guardiola’s four years in charge at the Camp Nou were nothing short of historic. During that time they won the Champions League twice, La Liga three times, and the Copa Del Rey twice. Bayern are well positioned to challenge for silverware in the Bundesliga and in Europe for years to come.
