In a match featuring the second and fourth place sides in the table, there were fireworks in the stands and on the pitch as Bayer Leverkusen beat their opponents 3-1 to keep the pace with the leaders.

Bayer Leverkusen beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1 to remain second in the table behind the leaders Bayern Munich.

Frankfurt fans flares and fireworks in the stands after fifteen minutes forcing officials to take the players off the pitch until order could be restored in the stands. Leverkusen came out of the small break and grabbed two goals in quick succession. Marco Russ cleared Stefan Kießling’s header, but the ball only made it out to Sebastian Boenisch. His shot beat Kevin Trapp to make it 1-0.
It was 2-0 just a couple of minutes later. Gonzalo Castro and Kießling broke free behind the defense. Castro held the ball until the last second and fed Kießling who finished.
Andre Schürrle made it 3-0 in the 58th minute on a pass from Kießling. The attacking midfielder put his shot just inside the near post to give Leverkusen what seemed like an insurmountable lead.
Alexander Meier pulled a goal back for Frankfurt in the 78th minute, but it would be nothing more than a consolation goal. Leverkusen held on for the final twelve minutes to maintain second place in the table.
