Borussia Dortmund went to the Weserstadion and smashed Werder Bremen 5-0 in a match where they also welcomed Nuri Sahin back to the team.

Marco Reus got things underway after only nine minutes. He curled a free kick around the fingertips of Sebastian Mielitz, and it was 1-0 before Bremen had their feet under them. Ten minutes later, it was 2-0. Mario Götze’s shot was deflected by Theodor Gebre Selassie, and it went past Mielitz into the net.

The match was all BVB at this point. Felipe Santana, filling in for an injured Neven Subotic, headed in a third goal in the 48th minute from a Götze corner. Robert Lewandowski made it 4-0 in the 81st after knocking in a cross from Lukasz Piszczek.

Sahin came on in the 84th minute and immediately contributed. He started the attack that led to the 5th goal. Piszczek passed it to Jakub Blaszczykowski, and the midfielder easily finished for the 5-0 victory.
