Manchester United vs. Fulham, 2013 FA Cup: Preview

A back-to-back series between Manchester United and Fulham could cause both teams to rest some of their key players on Saturday.

With a mid-week Premier League rematch looming, Manchester United and Fulham aren't likely to play their best teams both Saturday and in their league match. Who actually plays in the match is anyone's guess, though both Alex Ferguson and Martin Jol are likely to play mixed first and second teams.

In their last FA Cup tie, United kept their big guns on the bench, then brought them out when they needed a goal. Robin van Persie came off the bench to equalize against West Ham, forcing a replay, which United won comfortably. Expect Ferguson to do something very similar.

Manchester United injuries and suspensions

Out: Darren Fletcher (surgery), Ashley Young (knee), Johnny Evans (hamstring)

Fulham injuries and suspensions

Out: Kieran Richardson (calf), Kerim Frei (groin), Mamadou Diarra (knee), Simon Davies (thigh)

Darren Fletcher will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to fix a chronic bowel condition. Young and Evans' absences are unlikely to be felt. Fulham's injuries are a bit more concerning, especially considering that three of them are wingers, but Fulham are deep at that position.

Match date/time: Saturday, 5:30 p.m. local, 12:30 p.m. ET

Venue: Old Trafford, Manchester, England

TV: ESPN (U.K.), FOX Soccer (U.S.), Sportsnet World (Canada)
