It's amazing how much better a team can play when all the pressure of needing to win has been lifted off of them. Such was the case today for Manchester City who dispatched West Ham United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Sergio Agüero and Yaya Touré, one in each half, were the difference while Andy Carroll scored in stoppage time to make the final look a little better on paper.

With the title race over and all the pressure gone, Manchester City looked decent and held off West Ham United 2-1.

Don’t get the impression that West Ham were bad, that certainly wasn’t the case, they played very well and if not for some timely defending and bad luck they might of been able to claim a point from the game.
City took the lead in the 28th minute thanks to Sergio Agüero after some excellent buildup through the midfield. David Silva and Sami Nasri did most of the work playing a quick one-two down the left side before Nasri centered to Agüro whose shot deflected off Jussi Jaaskelainen and into the net.
Yaya Touré doubled the lead, a goal that City ended up needing, in the 83rd minute scoring on an absolute rocket from the edge of the area. Touré's shot was quite lovely, curling around the head of James Collins who screened Jaaskelainen and prevented the keeper from having any chance of stopping the shot.
West Ham got their goal in the 94th minute when Carroll chested down a cross from Guy Demel, muscled right around Kolo Toure and sent a low hard shot on goal that Joe Hart fumbled and allowed to roll across the line.
