Deportivo La Coruña once again pulled themselves above the drop zone with today's 1-1 draw against Real Betis. Their margin is slim though with only a single point between themselves, Celta Vigo and Real Zaragoza.
Real Betis vs. Deportivo La Coruña: Final score 1-1, Depor moves back above the drop zone
Deportivo couldn’t defend an early goal from Riki and were forced to settle for draw on the road against Real Betis. The point was enough to pull Depor back above the drop zone by a point.
Depor have not lost in their last six matches -- four wins, two draws -- a run that has moved them from the very bottom of the league back into survival contention. Betis remain in a likely European spot in Malaga remain banned, but are four points out of a guaranteed place.
Riki fired Depor ahead just seven minutes into the match receiving a pass from Bruno Gama and sending a shot top corner past Adrián. Depor continued the pressure and came close twice to doubling their lead but Adrián denied RIki on a shot from the edge of the area and Gama sent a good chance over the crossbar.
Jorge Molina pulled the visitors even just four minutes after the halftime break, beating Daniel Aranzubía from short range.
