The 2012-13 Bundesliga season is in the books, and we can wave goodbye to Greuther Fürth and Fortuna Düsseldorf. The former side was relegated a while ago, but the latter went down on the final day, with none of the results at the bottom of the table going in their favor.
Bundesliga scores: Hoffenheim and Augsburg pull off big wins in Week 34
Oh, and Bayern Munich won the title. But, like, back in October. Today had nothing to do with that.
Games that mattered
Five games are getting dissed. Sorry.
Julian Draxler scored the opener, Freiburg equalized, ten gave the game away with a bad own goal. Click the link above for a full report.
Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Hoffenheim
This one was nuts. Dortmund had a goal disallowed for offside in stoppage time that would have relegated Hoffenheim. Instead, everyone’s least favorite fake rich team finished 16th and gets to play in a relegation playoff. Both Hoffenheim goals were penalties and Roman Weidenfeller got sent off. Seriously.
FC Augsburg 3-1 SpVgg Greuther Fürth
Pretty neat escape, Augsburg! They battered Fürth in this one and could have won by more. They’ll be fun to have in the Bundesliga for another season.
Hannover 3-0 Fortuna Düsseldorf.
I’ll pour one out for you guys.
Games that did not really matter
U mad?
Eintracht Frankfurt 2-2 Wolfsburg
This point would have sealed Eintracht’s Europa League place no matter what HSV did, though they lost, so it was ultimately irrelevant.
Hamburg SV 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen
Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-4 Bayern Munich
It’s kind of dumb that this game even had to exist.
Stuttgart 2-2 Mainz
Congrats, you’re both mediocre!
Nürnburg 3-2 Werder Bremen
The fact that Werder didn’t need to do anything to stay up today shouldn’t cover up the fact that this was a hilariously bad season and that their best player is a loanee who won’t return to them next season because his parent club thinks that Werder, not too far removed from playing in Champions League, is beneath him.
