Borussia Dortmund could be without Mats Hummels next week when they face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final after the central defender left their match today with an ankle injury.
Mats Hummels status for Champions League final in doubt
The German defender could miss next weekend’s Champions League final after injuring his ankle in Dortmund’s 2-1 loss against Hoffenheim today.
Hummels was injured making a tackle on Hoffenheim’s Kevin Volland in the Dortmund area that led to a penalty call and Hoffenheim’s first goal. Immediately after the contact Hummels lifted his right leg into the air and hobbled away before going to ground.
Dortmund head coach Jürgen Klopp was fairly tight lipped about the injury after the match saying only that there was concern about Hummels with the final coming up.
Die Borussen are already scrambling to try and get Mario Götze back to fitness for next week’s final and it appears they’ll now have two major injury concerns to deal with.
