Numerous Italian media outlets are reporting that Juventus have reached an agreement for Argentina and Manchester City forward Carlos Tevez, which would add some much needed punch to their forward ranks. Tevez, who is 29 years old, has one year remaining on his contract at Eastlands.

Argentine international Carlos Tevez, who had one year remaining on his contract with Manchester City, will provide some much needed depth up front for Juventus -- if the rumors are true, of course.

Tevez talked about leaving Manchester City on multiple occasions while with the club, leading to a long leave of absence and his long-term benching in the 2011-12 season. However, he was a productive player during the most recent season, scoring 17 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions.

Under Antonio Conte, Juventus have played with a 3-5-2 formation more than any other. They've done it with a rotating band of solid squad players at striker, but they lacked star power up top and did well to reach the Champions League quarterfinals with a strikeforce of Alessandro Matri, Fabio Quagliarella, Mirko Vucinic and Sebastian Giovinco.
Fernando Llorente signed a contract with Juventus last January and will join them on a free transfer, giving them a big upgrade at the out-and-out striker spot, but they were in need of a better second striker as well. Tevez, despite his temperamental history, certainly constitutes an upgrade over Vucinic and Giovinco.
Expect at least two of the aforementioned four center forwards to be sold this summer if Tevez or any other forward of his caliber is signed. If the Bianconeri can lock up Stefan Jovetic or Gonzalo Higuain as well, yet another member of that group could go. Higuain has been more heavily linked to Arsenal than Juventus in recent weeks, but Jovetic appeared to be primed for a move to Turin. Whether or not the acquisition of Tevez would affect Juventus' pursuit of Jovetic isn't clear, but it would be surprising if they found a way to sign the Fiorentina ace without making sales first. They're a rich club, but still one of limited means.
As the squad stands, Tevez would likely become first choice very quickly, but Juventus appear to be far from done in the transfer market, both with arrivals and departures.
