USA vs. Mexico: Lineups

The United States and Mexico have both made significant changes for their World Cup qualifying match.

Jurgen Klinsmann has made significant changes to his lineup to face Mexico, with some moves being forced and others being tactical switches for the United States boss. Fabian Johnson will play right back ahead of Michael Orozco-Fiscal and Michael Parkhurst, while Clarence Goodson slots right into central defense after joining the team a couple of days ago. Eddie Johnson starts along with Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan. Any of the three could play center forward, but put your money on Dempsey being the one that shifts to left wing.

Javier Hernandez comes into the lineup for Luis Fernando Tena after not being fit enough to start the last game, while Jesus Zavala replaces the suspended Gerardo Torrado. Andres Guardado is brought in to attack the potentially vulnerable United States right flank, while Hiram Mier replaces Severo Meza.

United States (4-2-3-1): Tim Howard; DaMarcus Beasley, Clarence Goodson, Omar Gonzalez, Fabian Johnson; Kyle Beckerman, Jermaine Jones; Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Alejandro Bedoya; Eddie Johnson

Mexico (4-2-3-1): Jose de Jesus Corona; Carlos Salcido, Hector Moreno, Diego Reyes, Hiram Mier; Jesus Zavala, Fernando Arce; Andres Guardado, Christian Gimenez, Giovani dos Santos; Javier Hernandez
