USA vs. Mexico: El Tri looking strong early

There were two key observations to be made from the opening 15 minutes between the United States and Mexico. First, it has been a sloppy game and second, Mexico are the aggressors and generating the better chances. They just haven't been able to do anything with the chances yet.

The crowd was rocking as the match kicked off and both teams had good early energy but Mexico looked more dangerous in the opening minutes. The USA defense were able to clear Mexico's first foray into the attacking third and they survived an early corner kick as well in the 5th minute.

The scariest moment early was in the 7th minute when an attempted clearance by DaMarcus Beasley was mishit back on frame, but Tim Howard was in the right spot to prevent an own-goal.

Mexico also earned the first dangerous free kick in the 11th minute but Christian Giménez's optimistic effort from 30+ yards sailed well over Tim Howard's goal.

The US finally threatened in the 14th minute after a long free kick was headed down in the box to Jermaine Jones who hammered a shot well over the cross bar.
