The FIFPro World XI doesn’t have any hyper-athletic or defensive-minded midfielders because everyone knows that they’re not actually people. They’re robots. They take the joy out of football by crushing players who actually do things. Boo robots!
FIFPro World XI announced, is pretty bad as always
Surprise, the FIFPro World XI is a set of 11 pretty cool players who would not actually make a good team, and guys who actually defend got disrespected.
Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta got absolutely bulldozed and embarrassed by Bayern Munich duo Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger last year, and for that they've been rewarded with a place in the best XI. Also, Franck Ribery has been put in as a midfielder instead of as a forward in this 4-3-3 because reasons. Xavi is the most defensive midfielder in this set. Also, walking red card Sergio Ramos gets a place.
Other than those unfortunate but completely predictable choices, the rest of the world XI is pretty good, though Liverpool fans will almost certainly throw a fit about the center forward selection.
