Surprise! Jose Mourinho and Diego Simeone set up conservative teams and played to a scoreless draw.
Atléti vs. Chelsea in one word: Dull

Paul GilhamThe first half in Madrid was every bit as dull and defensive as you’d expect. Chelsea’s lineup was designed to keep Atléti contained, and for the most part it worked. It certainly wasn’t designed to attack the goal, because the Blues basically did none of that.

Then again, we might have predicted that when these sides last met in the final of the UEFA Super Cup back in 2012. On that occasion Atléti demolished Chelsea 4-1, albeit thanks to a hattrick from the now-departed Radamel Falcao.
Match Date/Time: Tuesday, 8:45 p.m. local, 2:45 p.m. ET
