Spain vs. Netherlands, World Cup 2014: Lineups
Lineups are out for one of the marquee matches of the group stages.
It's one of the biggest matches of the group stages, it's a re-match of the 2010 World Cup Final, it's Spain vs. the Netherlands. Let's find out how the two teams will start the match.
Spain's lineups feature no surprises with the experienced trio of Xabi Alonso, Sergio Busquets and Xavi anchoring the midfield. Diego Costa has overcome the hamstring issues that plagued him late in the club season to start in the attack. It will be just his third cap for Spain since switching his nationality from Brazil a few months ago.
The Dutch will likely play in a 5-3-2 formation with three central defenders and two wing backs, but it's important to note that the players in their lineup could also setup in a 4-4-2. The attack should test Spain with Robin Van Persie up top, supported by Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben.
Spain (4-3-3-): Iker Casillas; Jordi Alba, Sergio Ramos, Gerard Piqué, César Azpilicueta; Xabi Alonso, Sergio Busquets, Xavi; David Silva, Diego Costa, Andrés Iniesta.
Netherlands (3-5-2): Jasper Cillessen; Bruno Martins Indi, Ron Vlaar, Stefan de Vrij; Daley Blind, Daryl Janmaat, Nigel de Jong, Jonathan de Guzmán, Wesley Sneijder; Arjen Robben, Robin Van Persie.
