Daniel Agger moves to Brondby

Michael Regan

Daniel Agger almost certainly had suitors across Europe's five big leagues, but he's decided to turn down all of them to return home. The Dane has opted to move to Brondby, the only club other than Liverpool he's ever played for.

When announcing his departure, Liverpool opted to tweet a picture of Agger's tattoo, perhaps implying that he had no interest in playing for one of Liverpool's direct competitors, either in the Premier League or Champions League.

Agger joined Liverpool in 2006 and has been first choice for most of the time that he's been fit at Anfield, but fell out of favor with Brendan Rodgers a bit last season. A combination of fitness concerns and a preference for Mamadou Sahko saw Agger slightly marginalized, and he's been available for transfer all summer. He was linked to Arsenal and big Serie A sides, but apparently had little interest in playing for those teams.
