Valencia have confirmed the loan signing of Manchester City striker Álvaro Negredo, after a fairly unspectacular season in England. He joined the Citizens from Sevilla last summer, though despite going on to win the Premier League in his debut campaign, he scored just nine goals in 32 appearances.
Valencia sign Álvaro Negredo
Álvaro Negredo has headed back to Spain after an underwhelming season in England.
A a result, City have looked to cash in on the 29-year-old striker. Valencia have signed him on an initial loan deal, though as part of the switch they’re reportedly obligated to spend £24 million on making the transfer permanent next summer. It’s a great fee for the Citizens to recoup, considering his mediocre season with City.
The arrival of Negredo adds much-needed depth and experience to Valencia's attack, with their only other pure centre-forwards being Rodrigo and Paco Alcácer, who are 23 and 21 respectively. However, it leaves City looking a little light up top, with John Guidetti's imminent exit leaving Edin Džeko, Sergio Agüero and Stevan Jovetić as their only remaining strikers.
