Liverpool’s Oussama Assaidi goes to Stoke on loan for the second straight year

Maybe this time they’ll end up buying him?

Coming off the back of a successful loan spell last season, Oussama Assaidi has left Liverpool to join Stoke City on loan yet again.

Since Assaidi clearly doesn't have much of a future at Liverpool, it's odd that Stoke haven't just bought Assaidi outright. They seemed willing to buy Aaron Lennon earlier in the day before the player indicated he wasn't interested in the move, so they clearly have the money. But negotiations were too last-minute to get a sale done, so Assaidi has moved on loan again. Chances are, Stoke can get a permanent deal done later if they really want to.

This season. Assaidi might have a bit more competition for a first team place. Stoke have bought both Peter Odemwingie and Bojan Krkic while adding Victor Moses on loan and retaining Jonathan Walters. However, Odemwingie is out with a long-term injury, so Assaidi should get some chances in the first team between now and January.
