Southampton sign Sadio Mané

Southampton have completed the signing of Salzburg’s Senegalese star, Sadio Mané.

Red Bull Salzburg's midfield star Sadio Mané has joined Southampton on transfer deadline day. The 22-year-old, who has made several appearances for the Senegalese national team, has reportedly set the Saints back around £12 million.

Mané has been at Salzburg for the last couple of years, having moved to Austria from French club Metz in 2012. Since arriving, he has established himself as one of the team’s most important goalscorers, and has made a name for himself as a prolific scorer from midfield.

Over the last two Austrian Bundesliga seasons he's scored a remarkable 29 goals, helping Salzburg to the league title. He was also excellent in the Europa League, which is probably a better indicator of his quality than what he managed to do in Austria. Southampton will be hoping he can arrive and fill the creative void left by the likes of playmaking midfielders Adam Lallana and Gastón Ramírez, who have both left St. Mary's this summer.
