Olympique Marseille confirm signing of Doria from Botafogo

Botafogo’s young center back Doria has signed for Olympique Marseille, the Ligue 1 outfit have confirmed.

Olympique Marseille have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Botafogo’s 19-year-old center back, Doria, for a fee believed to be €10m.

The highly-rated teenager had been linked with a variety of clubs this summer as Botafogo struggled to pay some of their players in the midst of financial turmoil.

”I’m very happy, honored and proud to join Marseille, Doria said in a release from the team. “This is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, well known in Brazil.”

“I am fully prepared and trained with Botafogo before I signed with Marseille. I’m in great shape, ready to play. I’ve heard of the passion fans of Marseille. I know they play a very important role. I saw pictures from the Stade Velodrome in the last game of Marseille against Nice, it was amazing.”

Doria is the fourth signing since Marcelo Bielsa took over at the French giants, along with Michy Batshuayi, Romain Alessandrini, and Abdel Barrada.
