West Ham and Hull surprised everyone on Monday by producing a 4-goal showcase.
3 things from West Ham-Hull

Alex LiveseyHernandez nearly scored again just before halftime with a brilliant shot that struck the bar. Nikica Jelavic bundled in the rebound, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
From there, the match became a wild back and forth affair with regular chances for both sides, and two more goals were on the board before the 70 minute mark. Hull went back in front in the 64th minute, and did it through a former West Ham man. Mohamed Diame scored a stunner, creating space for himself with a pretty dribbling move before curling a shot off the inside of the far post from 15 yards. Predictably, he declined to celebrate.

Jamie McDonaldAnd to think, Valencia wasn’t even a striker until two years ago. He was a winger, but um, he’s pretty good at this goal scoring thing. Let’s keep him at striker and keeping hitting the piss out of the ball.

Stu ForsterHull City perhaps strengthened better in the summer than any club in the Premier League outside of the top four. However, that hasn’t stopped the Tigers from having a shaky start to the season, with Steve Bruce’s outfit having picked up four points from their opening three games.
Scottish youngster Andrew Robertson has been excellent since joining Hull from Dundee United in the summer, and so Bruce will be desperate for him to shake off a knock in time to start in his usual wingback role. If he does, he’ll be up against West Ham winger Stewart Downing -- a player who is much more dangerous than many give him credit for. Keeping him quiet won’t be as easy as it may seem.

Alex LiveseyManchester United got their first win of the season with a comprehensive demolition job of Queens Park Rangers. Despite their early problems, they were always favourites to top a QPR side that managed to look even worse than United through the first three games, and the hosts’ summer signings powered them to an easy 4-0 win.
United were on top from the off, and would have made it 1-0 far sooner had Robin van Persie not stolen the ball off Ander Herrera when the midfielder seemed certain to score. But no matter -- Angel di Maria made it 1-0 in the 24th minute with a whipped free kick which evaded a tangle of bodies in the penalty area and bounced in at the far post. It was his first goal for the club, and was a deserved reward for the best player on the pitch.

Liverpool welcome Aston Villa at Anfield

Jamie McDonaldAt this point Aston Villa might actually enjoy coming to Anfield, which is odd to say since it’s one of the tougher places to play in England. The Villians are undefeated in their last three trips to the red half of Liverpool, and their strong start combined with the Reds’ injury woes should have them believing that can extend that streak to four. Liverpool have made an ugly habit over the past few seasons of finding ways to drop points at home against teams everyone expects them to beat. It seems to be a definite case of being able to get in the right mindset to win the big games, and then forgetting to do the little things to take care of business in the rest of the games. It probably cost Liverpool a title last season and there’s no Luis Suárez around anymore to bail them out.

Chris BrunskillChelsea summer signing Diego Costa has made an outstanding start to life at Stamford Bridge, with the former Atlético Madrid man having netted four goals in his opening three Premier League games. His strength and physicality has helped him transition seamlessly into the English game, and it’ll be very difficult for Swansea to keep the Spanish international quiet on Saturday.
