Juventus vs. Real Madrid live blog: Highlights and live updates

One of the two best ties in the 2018 Champions League quarter-final round, Juventus hosts Real Madrid in the first leg of a tie between two of the best teams in Europe over the past decade. But more than that, it’s the first leg of a tie between two teams that haven’t quite enjoyed the season they wanted to so far.

After a stop-start first two-thirds of the season, Juventus have finally rounded into form at a crucial time, retaking first place in Serie A and coming back in wildly dramatic fashion to beat a Tottenham Hotspur side in the round of 16 that many believed had what it took to make a deep run in the Champions League this year. Their defense is finally consistently good again, and with both Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain finding great form, their attack is a fearsome thing to behold right now.

But Real Madrid aren’t going to make the same kind of mistakes that Spurs did to give Juventus that win. They’re coming off an emphatic round of 16 win of their own, having absolutely dominated an excellent Paris Saint-Germain side to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. With Cristiano Ronaldo scoring goals almost at will and their midfield and defense finding a form that they’ve lacked all season during their current run of 10 wins in 11 matches, Real Madrid are a team to be reckoned with right now.
