All the World Cup goals and highlights from Day 5

Check out all the scores and goals from Day 5

We’re nearly a week into the 2018 World Cup, and the drama is still coming. A trio of notable teams took the field in Russia on Monday for the first time, with England needing a late winner against Tunisia in the final game of the day.

Leading off the day, Sweden edged South Korea, 1-0, through a penalty converted by Andreas Granqvis. In the middle slot, Belgium then eventually overcome a stubborn Panama, 3-0, with a brace from Lukaku. None of the three matchups is a truly marquee event, but England made sure it was a tense and afternoon.

Here is everything you need to know about Day 5. Stay tuned for the final scores and the must-see highlights from the day.

Raheem Sterling and the stars you’ll be watching

One major question lingers over the matchday, and that’s whether or not this England squad can gel and do something special in this tournament — but underneath that is something a little more specific: can Raheem Sterling finally get the English media off his back? We’ve talked before about how he almost seems to be targeted by the media over even innocuous things like having the audacity to buy himself breakfast, but what better way for Sterling to shut everyone up and finally get some dang respect by putting on a show in the World Cup?

Past that, though, there’s also some questions around the Belgium and Sweden squads. Belgium haven’t quite looked like they’re at their best since Roberto Martinez took over the squad, while few are sure what Sweden will do without the magic of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the side. Between their questions and England’s, this could prove to be a very educational day in the World Cup, because Belgium and Sweden especially have opponents that will give them stern tests that will need to be taken seriously and have the teams step up in a bigger way than we’ve seen from either of them of late.
