Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray Reach Third Round Of Shanghai Masters

One year after upsetting Roger Federer in the finals in Shanghai, reigning champion Andy Murray has reached the third round of the Shanghai Masters, along with top-seed Rafael Nadal.

Murray got an easy pass in the second round when his opponent, Dmitry Tursunov of Russia, pulled out of their scheduled play with a wrist injury.

Nadal defeated fellow countryman Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-3 6-2.

Nadal, who is seeking a record 20th ATP title this weekend, will play Germany’s Florian Mayer. The Spainard was upset just last week by the Andy Murray, who is the No. 4 seed in the Masters tournament.

Other ATP players onto the third round include David Ferrer of Spain, Andy Roddick of the U.S.A and Bernard Tomic of Australia.

Other tournament notes:

-- American Mardy Fish was defeated in the second round three sets by Tomic.

-- American Donald Young was also defeated in the second round of the tournament. The Chicago-native was beat in three sets by Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (2), 6-2.
