Andy Roddick Out Of Shanghai Masters; Andy Murray Advances

Murray meets Japan’s Kei Nishikori in the semifinal round.
As for Andy Roddick, the American’s struggles continued. He was beat in his quarterfinal match against David Ferrer, but Roddick didn’t leave with an embarrassing loss. The American won the first set in a tiebreak and last the last set in a tiebreak. The final score, however, was in Ferrer’s favor, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6(2). The match lasted 2.5 hours and each player rocketed 11 aces.
“I played okay [and] I thought he played pretty well,” Roddick said. “I thought second and third sets he played at an extremely high level and served pretty well. You normally don’t count on him making a lot of first serves, hitting aces. I felt like today he did that and got himself out of trouble a couple of times. When he’s doing that, he’s definitely tough to beat.”
Roddick hasn’t reached the finals of a singles tournament since February.
Ferrer will face Florian Mayer, who knocked out the tournament’s top seed Rafael Nadal in the third round.
