During the month of October, ATP tour players Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick were adamant that things about the ATP schedule needed to change. They wanted more time in between tournaments, a long off season. It wasn’t a money issue, Roddick said.
2012 U.S. Open Might Play Men’s Final On Monday

Well, their first change was discussed. It’s small, but it includes a day of rest.
The U.S. Open is looking to schedule a day in between the semifinal and finals match of the Grand Slam tournament. It would be the first Grand Slam tournament to switch to a Monday final. (Finals are typically played on Sunday.)
The discussion started between U.S. Tennis Association and CBS last month.
Former world No. 1 Roger Federer, whose tennis pedigree includes 16 Slams (five from the U.S. Open), said it was the “right move for our sport.”
The proposal means that the U.S. Open would become a 15-day tournament, with a women’s final changing from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon and the men’s moving from Sunday to Monday.
