In September, the issue of grunting on the WTA tour was on the agenda for the Association when it met at the U.S. Open in New York.
WTA CEO Says Grunting Is Staying, For Now

On Sunday, during the final day of the season-ending WTA Championships in Istanbul, the tour’s CEO Stacy Allaster said that grunting isn’t leaving the court any time soon.
Earlier in the week, Allaster had said the changes would have to start with young junior players, like those who train at Nick Bollettieri’s tennis academy in Bradenton, Fla.
But when asked if the WTA was doing anything about the decibels that some of its players can reach, Allaster said, “I thought we had got away from this.”
While there are many complaints that Allaster said she receives from fans, she said she has not had one complain from a player.
“Grunting is part of our sport -- full stop,” she emphasized. “Athletes hitting the ball as hard as they do, will do it. Women do it, and men do it, and they will continue to do it.”
