Spain’s Davis Cup captain Albert Costa quit Spain’s team nine days after his top two singles players announced they wouldn’t be returning to next year’s Davis Cup action.

Spain’s Davis Cup captain, Albert Costa, quit the team after Rafael Nadal and David Ferrerer announced they would not be returning.


The former French Open champion led Spain to two Davis Cup titles in his three years. The second title was the one Rafael Nadal and David Ferrerer propelled to against Argentina in Seville on Dec. 4.
Costa stayed in the tennis community, moving to an overseer of the captains for the Spain’s Davis Cup, Fed Cup and 2012 Olympic teams. His first things to check of his new job list include finding his successor. Countrymen Alex Corretja and Carlos Moya have been “linked to the position.”
