2011 BNP Paribas Open Results: Novak Djokovic Tops Rafael Nadal To Remain Undefeated
Djokovic defeated Nadal 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to remain undefeated at 18-0. Djokovic’s other 2011 titles include one from Dubai and one from Australia. Despite his victory, Djokovic called Nadal the greatest player ever.
The ATP released new rankings after the match. Nadal remains the world No. 1 at 14-3, but Djokovic bumped Sweden’s Roger Federer from the No. 2 spot. Nadal hasn’t won a title since October 2010.

One year later and WTA No.1 seed Caroline Wozniacki has her first BNP Paribas Open title after defeating No. 17 Marion Bartoli in three sets, 6-1 2-6 6-3, on Sunday afternoon in Indian Wells, Calif. The 20-year-old Wozniacki was in the tournament’s final for a second year in a row, having lost to Jelena Jankovic in straight sets, 6-2 6-4, in 2010.
Wozniacki defeated Maria Sharapova in the semifinal round, 6-1 6-2. Sharapova was looking for her second finals appearance, winner of the 2006 open title. Marion Bartoli defeated Yanina Wickmayer in the semis to advance to the finals. This set up a rematch of their 2011 Doha engagement, which Wozniacki won, 6-1 6-1.
