French Open 2011 Results: Caroline Wozniacki Upset By Daniela Hantuchova

One day after second-seeded Kim Clijsters’ second-round collapse knocked her out of the French Open 2011, the World No. 1 is out at Roland Garros: Caroline Wozniacki at least lost to a seeded player, but she did it in straight sets, falling 6-1 6-3 to No. 28 Daniela Hantuchova in morning third-round action on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

Wozniacki briefly flickered to life late in the second set, and appeared to be mounting a comeback of some sort after taking two consecutive games, but Hantuchova retained her calm and dispatched her superior with the composure you’d expect to see on the other side of the net. Tired of the narrative bashing Wozniacki’s seeding? Settle in for some more; the complaints about her No. 1 ranking aren’t going anywhere.

And is this the season of the upstart at Roland Garros? A women’s field at the French Open 2011 that boasted as many as seven possible winners may see each of those hopefuls eliminated, the way they’re all playing.

Stay tuned to this StoryStream for more results from Day 6 of the French Open 2011. Roland Garros tennis matches can be viewed online at the Tennis Channel’s free live stream and on ESPN3, and live scores can be found throughout the day at the tournament’s official website.
