U.S. Open 2011 Schedule: Rained Out Tuesday Means Tons Of Fun Wednesday

Tuesday’s rained out action has been condensed with Wednesday’s schedule at the U.S. Open for a mega-schedule of headliners and cinderella stories.

All of Tuesday’s matches were canceled in Flushing Meadows, meaning U.S. Open action Wednesday will be scrunched together, if the rain holds off. One benefit comes from this: a crazy amount of crazy good tennis.

American redemption story Donald Young was set to face fourth-seeded Andy Murray in Arthur Ashe stadium Tuesday morning in one of the more anticipated matchups of the tournament so far, but they’ve been bumped to the Grandstand over a double-header of Nadal and Djokovic trying to make the quarterfinals.

On the women’s side, Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki continue their march to a seemingly inevitable showdown. Wozniacki, the top seed, has been certified Ashe material since the tournament began, but she might be relegated to Louis Armstrong stadium, depending on scheduling.

Here are the key matches for Wednesday:

Men’s Matches:

No. 1 Novak Djokovic vs. No. 20 Janko Tipsarevic

No. 4 Andy Murray vs. Donald Young

No. 5 David Ferrer vs. No. 21 Andy Roddick

No. 3 Roger Federer vs. No. 11 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Women’s Matches:

No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki vs. No. 10 Andrea Petkovic

No. 2 Vera Zvonareva vs. No. 9 Samantha Stosur

No. 28 Serena Williams vs. No. 17 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
