Wednesday U.S. Open Day Session Canceled Due To Rainy Weather

After a lengthy delay, the U.S. Open’s official web site announced Wednesday evening that the tournament’s day session has been canceled due to weather after several hours worth of delays. Here’s the notice:

Unfortunately, due to the lingering rain, the day session has been canceled.

Every effort will be made to play tonight’s evening session, which will feature the women’s quarterfinal matches between Serena Williams and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Samantha Stosur and Vera Zvonareva, Caroline Wozniacki and Andrea Petkovic, and Flavia Pennetta and Angelique Kerber.

Please check back or sign up for US Open weather text alerts for further updates.
The inclement weather policy is now in effect for Wednesday’s day session (#19).

Tuesday’s delays had appeared to make for a supposedly action-packed Wednesday. So just imagine how great the next day of actual tennis is going to be! It’s expected to rain throughout the rest of the week as well, however, so this all might be adding up to form the greatest day of tennis ever once it’s all done with.
