Second-seeded Novak Djokovic had little trouble advancing through his first-round match agains Paolo Lorenzi of Italy. Djokovic was dominant, winning in straight sets and losing just two games overall.

Lorenzi broke Djovovic in the first game, but that was his only chance at a break point for the rest of the match. Djokovic won nine break points in cruising to a 6-1, 6-0, 6-1 victory. He also served seven aces without double-faulting. Lorenzi was unable to get any easy points, as he did not win a single ace and posted seven double-faults.
Djokovic is looking for his second Grand Slam title of the year and back-to-back U.S. Opens. After the match, he said in front of a raucous crowd that Arthur Ashe stadium is the “most entertaining place in the sport.” Predictably, that drew a loud round of cheers.
