The new WWE World Heavyweight Champion is Triple H, who’s captured a world-level title for the 14th time in his career. He was the final entrant in the Royal Rumble, which was all about his Authority faction trying to get the title off of Roman Reigns.

The Game is the champ for the first time in seven years.
This was the first time in history that the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was defended in the Royal Rumble. The one other time that it was up for grabs in this match was in 1992, when Ric Flair won the vacant title in one of the greatest matches of all time.

SURPRISE ENTRANTS: AJ Styles, a former TNA and New Japan champion who, to this point, was almost certainly the greatest active North American wrestler to never perform in WWE. Sami Zayn, who recently returned to NXT after a long injury layoff. Triple H, though most expected him to enter, even though he isn’t a full-time wrestler and wasn’t announced.

KOFI KINGSTON’S ELIMINATION AVOIDANCE SPOT: Big E caught him!
NON-TITLE IMPLICATIONS: Sami Zayn eliminated his former best friend and NXT nemesis, Kevin Owens, in his return from a shoulder injury. After Brock Lesnar eliminated three members of the Wyatt Family, they came back into the ring to help Bray Wyatt eliminate him. Besides that, it’s not obvious. Most other eliminations centered around the title, Roman Reigns and Triple H.
