Ole Miss and Memphis Do Battle In Sunday College Football
The 8th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels are battling it out with Memphis, as Houston Nutt and Jevan Sneed attempt to build on last season’s surprising success. One of last year’s weaknesses, however, was winning the games they were supposed to win.
Beating Florida on the road? No problem. Beating Vanderbilt at home? Not so much. So if any early-season game against an 7-point underdog can be termed a barometer, it’s today’s Memphis-Ole Miss matchup. If the Rebels are actually a top 10 team, they should win handily.
So far, however, it's been a back-and-forth defensive struggle, with Ole Miss leading 17-7, and second team All-Sec QB Jevan Snead throwing two interceptions in the first half. Curtis Steele has a rushing touchdown for the Tigers, and with just a few minutes left in the half, it looked like Ole Miss could be in for a battle. That is, until Memphis threw an interception that Ole Miss returned for a touchdown.
