The game has gone final, and (obviously) Cincinnati won easily. Rutgers was debuting a newly-expanded stadium and riding a 7-game winning streak; Cincinnati’s offense, though, was far more than the Scarlet Knights could handle.
Your Final Score: 47-15
The Associated Press delivers a full recap:
New Scarlet Knights starter Domenic Natale threw three first-half interceptions and the senior left open the possibility that his first career start could be his last. Highly touted freshman Tom Savage played the second half.[...]
With the luxury of a returning starter at quarterback for the first time at UC, Kelly unleashed his fast-paced, Oklahoma-style offense. [...] Cincinnati even gave Rutgers a dose of the Wildcat - not, the Bearcat? - with redshirt freshman tight end Travis Kelce, a former quarterback, taking two snaps and bulling 16 yards to finish off the first of three consecutive second-quarter touchdown drives.
This was billed as a matchup of two Big East heavyweights--featherweights, relative to the rest of country, but still--but after today’s drubbing, you could make one of two conclusions: either Rutgers is definitely NOT a Big East heavyweight, or Cincinnati is not only a heavyweight in the Big East, but a potential contender for the heavyweight BCS belt, as well.
In summation: boxing metaphors are confusing, Tony Pike and the Bearcats looked really good today, and Rutgers had a very disappointing debut in their new, $100 million-renovated stadium.
