Florida State followed Miami’s opening score with a touchdown of their own. After converting on that fourth-and-short mentioned below, FSU was driven backward by the Miami defense, and eventually they found themselves facing a 3rd-and-23 from the edges of Miami territory.
Halftime: Miami 14 Florida State 10
That’s when Christian Ponder threw a 34-yard pass to Willie Reed, which eventually led to a 10-yard touchdown pass from Ponder to the phenomenally-named Caz Piurowski. From there, there’s been a lot of back-and-forth play, but neither team has been terribly successful at finishing off drives.
Still, Miami finished the half with an impressive drive down the field, capped by a powerful touchdown run from Javarris James. Miami leads 14-10 going into the half, and both quarterbacks are playing very well.
