Jim Harbaugh Rejects Raiders; Al Davis Interested In Anyone Who’s Ever Coached Football

Tom Cable still hasn’t had his meeting with Raiders owner Al Davis to determine the head coach’s future in Oakland. Which is to say that Cable hasn’t officially been told he’s fired. But all signs indicate it will happen at some point. Signs such as the Raiders reaching out to no less than three different prospective head coaches this week, according to ESPN and San Francisco Chronicle.

Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh reportedly had no interest in leaving the Pac-10 for the Raiders after speaking with the team. Oakland has interest in two other non-NFL coaches, as well: Jim Fassel, formerly of the Giants and current coach of the UFL’s Las Vegas team, and Marc Trestman of the CFL’s Montreal team. Both Fassel and Trestman led their teams to championships this season, so it would only make sense that Al Davis would assume they can be Super Bowl-caliber coaches in the NFL.
