The Vikings are scheduled to play the Patriots in Week 8 but at this point they're uncertain if Brett Favre will be with them. Vikings head coach Brad Childress told reporters on Monday that Favre as a pair of fractures in his ankle. Childress characterized Favre's status as day-to-day.
Brett Favre’s Ankle Injury Will Make Him Questionable Vs. Patriots In Week 8
KFAN in Minneapolis tweets that he’s in a walking boot and the injury is to his left ankle. He’s going to have an MRI on it to get more details.
Childress said that he doesn’t know if Favre will be able to play against the Patriots. He says he needs to see him be able to move around. It’s still early in the week but it’s not a great sign when you’re in a walking boot on Monday and hoping to move around by the middle of the week.
The other factor in this is Favre’s consecutive games streak. He’s sitting at 291 games and the next closest in-line is nearly 100 games away. Clearly everyone around Favre and the Vikings is aware of the streak but, as Childress said to reporters, you can’t send a “sitting duck” out there.
Losing Favre would be devastating for the Vikings. They’re sitting at 2-4 and each loss makes it more unlikely they’ll make the playoffs essentially making Favre’s return a waste.
