Video: Ovechkin Hits Jagr, Jagr Falls Down, Czechs Go Boom
I suspect this video will not be long for the Internet, but that’s Alexander Ovechkin lowering the boom on Jaromir Jagr, and basically swinging today’s hockey match between Russia and the Czech Republic in the process. Immediately after the hit, Evgeni Malkin scored to give Russia a 3-1 lead. Though the Czechs scored late in the third period, they would never equalize, and Malkin’s goal counts as the game-winner in Russia’s 4-2 victory.
I’ll try to update in case the video gets yanked, but Ovechkin conducting the pain train has already been immortalized in animated GIF form. I have to think a certain Sporting Blog contributor might have his own take on it tomorrow, too.
