Forget Film Study: For Tracy Porter, It Was All About the Hair

Look, I know that Tracy Porter’s superb film study is what actually enabled him to pick off Peyton Manning’s fourth-quarter pass and return it for the Super Bowl 44-sealing touchdown Sunday night. If you believe that a mix of confidence and style can put karma on your side, though, join me in praising Tracy Porter’s hair.
I don’t want to get all biblical, because Freek did that better than I ever could, and because Porter’s awesome hair sort of skews the story of Samson. But perhaps the city of New Orleans or the rest of the Saints should start a Tracy Porter Shave Art Fund for every game for the rest of his life. He seems to play well when he has something creative on his cranium.

You can see a image of his full right side at Shutdown Corner. It shows that he had “SB44,” the Superdome, and the Lombardi Trophy, all exquisitely detailed, on his head. Does that count as literally having victory on his mind? You can see an interview with Porter’s barber, Reginald Williams, here. It’s not embeddable, but it both explains the practice and shows a few other styles Porter has sported this year.
