The Indians are bad. Grady Sizemore is batting .211 with zero home runs. There might be some kind of relationship between the two. And now the disappointing Sizemore story is moving into a new chapter, as a knee injury he suffered on Sunday is sending him to the DL:
Knee Injury Puts Grady Sizemore On Shelf As Surgery Possibility Looms
Indians placed OF Grady Sizemore on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 17, with a left knee bone bruise.
Sizemore was initially listed as day-to-day, but he had an MRI on Wednesday morning, and now he’s out indefinitely and might even need to go under the knife. Needless to say, this is not how Sizemore wanted to bounce back after a handful of injuries already spoiled his 2009.
Shelley Duncan's coming up from AAA to take Sizemore's spot, but Trevor Crowe's the favorite to take most of Sizemore's playing time. I suppose on the plus side, Cleveland isn't going to miss the early-season version of Sizemore's bat. The injury, though, only delays his progress in getting back to what he used to be.
