World Cup 2010, Spain Vs. Honduras: Spain Back On Track With 2-0 Win
David Villa had two goals and could have had two more as Spain cruised to a 2-0 victory Monday over Honduras. The win pulled Spain even with Switzerland for second in Group H while Honduras is at the bottom of the group, having yet to earn a point.
Villa created an astounding goal in the 19th minute when he took the fall on the left flank, ran at Sergio Mendoza and Amado Guevara, split them at the edge of the box and cut-back against Osman Chavez to put a right footed shot into the upper-right-hand corner of goal as he was falling to the pitch.

Jesus Navas drew a penalty from Emilio Izaguirre in the 62nd minute, seemingly setting-up David Villa for a World Cup hat-trick. Villa sent goalkeeper Noel Valladares to the left and calmly hit the ball to the right, pushing the shot wide, keeping Honduras within two.
Navas’s attempt to cut-back from the by line was stopped by Izaguirre, whose right foot tripped Navas for an obvious penalty. Villa immediately stepped up to take the kick and looked confident in striking the ball, only to push his shot two feet outside the right post.

As the Swiss showed in Spain’s first match, that’s not always the worst approach against the Spanish.
With the attacking options bolstered, Spain will again be at the strings of Xavi Hernández. The best central midfielder in the world, Xavi was still able to create chances for his teammates despite Switzerland’s strong defensive performance. If Spain gets slightly better finishing, they’ll have no problem with Honduras.
