World Cup 2010, Spain Vs. Honduras: On Hat-Trick, David Villa Misses Penalty Kick

Jesus Navas drew a penalty from Emilio Izaguirre in the 62nd minute, seemingly setting-up David Villa for a World Cup hat-trick. Villa sent goalkeeper Noel Valladares to the left and calmly hit the ball to the right, pushing the shot wide, keeping Honduras within two.

Navas’s attempt to cut-back from the by line was stopped by Izaguirre, whose right foot tripped Navas for an obvious penalty. Villa immediately stepped up to take the kick and looked confident in striking the ball, only to push his shot two feet outside the right post.

The score remained 2-0, Spain.
