In what can only be described as scary news, former Alabama basketball star Mikhail Torrance was rushed to the hospital in Bradenton, Fla. after collapsing during a workout, according to Tim Povtak of Fanhouse.
Former Alabama Star Mikhail Torrance Rushed To Hospital After Collapsing During Workout
Torrance was five minutes into a workout at the IMG Basketball Academy in Bradenton when he suddenly collapsed. His head reportedly hit the floor hard and eventually stopped breathing. Paramedics continued to perform CPR on him as he was rushed to the nearby Blake Memorial Hospital.
Torrance had just signed a contract to play professionally in Israel. It was known that he had issues with his heart -- saying several times in college that he had an “athlete’s heart” that was “just a little bit bigger” than a normal heart -- but he was able to play normally while at Alabama.
