Fantasy Football: Roster Cut Downs Will See Talented NFL Players Change Teams

Each year NFL teams face roster cut down week going from 80 players to 53 and every year there are talented players released because a team is stacked at one position. That’s usually a good problem to have. Here are a few teams that might be in that position this year.

SB Nation’s Bleeding Green Nation came up with a lengthy list of teams that could be parting ways with talented players because of so much depth at one position. Roster cutdowns are coming next week and, like there is every year, a handful of talented players will be let go because their team has too many good players at one position.

It seems that every year there’s a player that’s cut in the first week of September that signs elsewhere and becomes a key player.

Here are a look at a few teams that are stacked at a position and will likely have to cut talented players.

Cowboys wide receivers: Miles Austin and Dez Bryant are locks to make the team and Roy Williams likely is as well. Beyond that, you can say Sam Hurd will probably make the roster. Patrick Crayton had his name floated in trades this offseason so he's a possibility to be cut as is Kevin Ogletree. Crayton would make most rosters in the NFL.

Bills running backs: The Bills have three talented (and injured) running backs at this point. Save is C.J. Spiller, their first round pick. He'll likely be paired with a combination of Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson. The Bills can carry all three but if there aren't enough carries to pass around they may be better off moving one of them. Jackson or Lynch could be contributors on other teams.

Bengals wide receivers: The Bengals are stacked at receiver with Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens as the first and second receivers on the team. Anthony Bryant's knee is still a question mark but he may not get cut because of the four-year contract he just signed. The Bengals also have Jordan Shipley, Quan Cosby, Dezmon Briscoe, Jerome Simpson and Anthony Caldwell. Someone (or two) will fall out of that group.

Texans tight ends: The Texans have four solid tight ends. There's Owen Daniels, who isn't going anywhere along with Joel Dreesen, who is a "solid No. 2 tight end'. After that the Texans have a pair of recent drat picks in James Casey and Garrett Graham. Neither, partly because of draft position, are expected to be released. It seems unlikely that a team would keep four tight end which means one of them could be available.

Then there will be the surprise cuts and the money-saving cuts to go along with the roster depth cuts. Check out Bleeding Green Nation for a nice look across the league of teams in similar situations at a position.
