A few days ago, we got the following update on Carlos Santana’s condition:
Carlos Santana To Have Knee Surgery, Miss Rest Of Season
Tests on #Indians Carlos Santana show high grade strain of LCL and hyperextension of left knee. Surgery still a possibility.
And now we find out the plan will indeed be an operation.
Cleveland Indians catcher Carlos Santana is set to have surgery on his injured left knee and will miss the rest of the season.
Santana will have surgery Friday to repair his lateral collateral ligament.
Santana did manage to avoid the significant damage it was feared he suffered in the immediate aftermath, but he did still come away pretty badly hurt, hence this procedure. The standard recovery time is between four and six months, and if all goes well, Santana should have little trouble being in shape and ready to compete well in advance of next year’s spring training.
