Report: Warriors Sign Louis Amundson To Two-Year Contract

Now that we're in September, there aren't many decent NBA players that are unsigned. Therefore, when Louis Amundson finds a new home, it's relatively significant news.

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, Amundson, who was a key backup big man for the Phoenix Suns last year, has signed a two-year, $5 million contract to join the Golden State Warriors.

Amundson gets two-year deal with Golden State worth nearly $5 million, choosing Warriors over New Orleans.

Amundson is an undersized big man that helps teams because of his relentless pursuit on the glass and his energy. He’s a garbage player that was a big part of the Suns’ outstanding second unit. Now, he heads to Golden State, a team that pushes the pace like the Suns. Amundson has been on the fringes of the NBA for years, so it was hard for him to turn down a NBA-level contract offer, even if the Warriors may not be the best fit for his skills.

The Hornets reportedly were unwilling to offer more than $1.9 million in the first year because they would have been pushed back over the luxury tax. They were technically able to trump Golden State's offer, because they have not used their mid-level exception, but the money concerns were apparently too great.
