The New England Patriots led the New York Jets 14-7 late in the second quarter. The Jets re-claimed a little momentum as time expired in the first half, closing the gap to 14-10, and then completely dominated New England in the second half en route to a 28-14 victory.
Week 2 NFL Scores And Results: Jets Dominate Second Half, Beat Pats 28-14
Mark Sanchez - so putrid in a Week 1 loss to Baltimore - threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns, adding a two-point conversion to Braylon Edwards in the process. Dustin Keller had a monster game, as well, shredding the Patriots’ defense for 115 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions. Without Darrelle Revis for the entire second half, the Jets picked off Tom Brady twice, and a Jason Taylor sack and forced fumble (recovered by Bryan Thomas) put the game out of question late in the fourth quarter.
Brady threw touchdown passes to Wes Welker and Randy Moss, but had a disastrous second half. With little running game to speak of, the Jets pinned their ears back and came after Brady, forcing poor throws and turnovers to put the game out of reach. New England’s inability to get a big play from its young, re-tooled defense did the visitors no favors, as well. Both teams are now 1-1, and looked wholly different from their Week 1 selves.
