Define "roller coaster" and you'll probably come up with something similar to Sunday night's game between the Anaheim Ducks and Calgary Flames. After the Ducks sprinted to a 3-0 lead in the first six minutes of the contest, the Flames answered with a four-goal rally, capped by a Jarome Iginla tally with 13 minutes left in the third period.
Flames Vs. Ducks: Corey Perry’s OT Goals Boosts Anaheim Into Playoff Position
But just as it looked like the Flames would ride that rally to victory, Rene Bourque went to the box for interference, and the Ducks took advantage as Teemu Selanne scored with just over two minutes left in the game to tie the score.
In overtime, Steve Staios hauled down Bobby Ryan on a breakaway, which of course gave Ryan a penalty shot. Did Flames goalie Henrik Karlsson have an answer?
Yes he did. Four seconds later, though, off the ensuing face off, Corey Perry's stick got in the way of a point blast from Toni Lydman that beat Karlsson and gave the Ducks a vital two points. The win lifted Anaheim a point ahead of Calgary in the standings and into the eighth and final playoff spot in the West.
